Artful, Elegant Wedding Flowers

From the film shots to the classic car photo op to the tendrilly florals that made our design hearts so happy…this was one artful wedding. Scroll for a glimpse into the album we still can’t take our eyes off—and enjoy the day’s floral diary while you’re at it.

THE CEREMONY

Oh, another thing that made this wedding so artful? It was literally held at a visual arts center. The Hui No’eau is a community fixture of upcountry Maui, and one of the best wedding venues around. Savannah and Gunnar wanted to hold their ceremony under the trees of the Hui’s stunning grounds, so we built a floral ground arch in their wedding colorway: greens, creams, and warm golden tones.

S + G also asked for aisle markers, an often overlooked but hardworking floral element that brings a strong sense of cohesion to a ceremony design. We played with levels throughout using towering bells of Ireland and a sturdy base of hydrangea to support more the delicate blooms bouncing on the breeze.

THE BOUQUETS

All eyes on Savannah’s bridal bouquet, starring tropical-happy anthuriums and orchids, and finished with draping amaranthus in a strong supporting role. As for her besties’ bouquets, each was modeled after hers but in miniature, with a little something to set it apart (more ranunculus here, more calla lilies there…).

THE RECEPTION

We’re going to take this moment to say we’re obsessed with a little duotone orchid. These watermelon palette guys figured in prominently throughout this beautiful day, and we love how Katrina Marie captured them on film in their compote arrangement. Oh and take a closer look at that sweetheart table ground arrangement. Look familiar? It was moved over from the ceremony location because no flowers left behind.
