Garden-Inspired Wedding Flowers

For their intimate I do’s and at-home reception, Solana and Jeremy envisioned organic-feeling floral arrangements one could almost believe simply grew that way. And looking from the pastoral staircase install to the cake meadow to the handful of bucolic blooms Solana carried down the aisle…we think we understood the assignment. Working from their palette of butter yellow and cornflower blue, here’s what we designed for their garden-inspired wedding flowers.

THE BOUQUET

Fun fact: That shot on the left happens to be the highest-performing pin on our Pinterest. Effortlessly garnering thousands of impressions, it’s indisputable proof that Solana’s got great taste in flowers. Her bridal bouquet centered hyper-romantic blooms like peonies and roses, dahlias and ranunculus… Then we balanced all those buttery petals with textural elements including eucalyptus, bead-like spirea and feverfew. As for the pops of blue—those were thanks to delphinium and forget-me-nots.

THE CEREMONY

Solana and Jeremy said their vows at Hotel Wailea’s Treehouse location in a small ceremony before just a few family members and friends. And naturally we adorned the wooden staircase backdrop with a floral installation that climbed up the front steps. We achieved that garden-inspired aesthetic by weaving in plenty of greenery and by playing with levels in our flower placement (most garden flowers don’t all grow to the exact same length if left to their own devices). The result seemed to breathe with vibrant life, and we may have spotted a few butterflies checking out the new habitat in town.

THE RECEPTION

Over in their backyard, we got busy designing an honest-to-god cake meadow—admittedly our first, as well as one of our favorite floral creations we’ve had the pleasure to produce. It was home to many of the blooms seen throughout S + J’s sublime wedding day, including those achingly luscious bowl-of-cream peonies we ordered from Holland. And because Solana is a part-time Floralette freelancer and full-time friend, we stuck around for the reception to raise a few glasses to her Jeremy’s happily ever after.
