Maui Wedding Venue Guide

For the grand affairs and intimate elopements, the ballroom receptions and starlit revelries, the oceanfront vow exchanges and the grove-nestled I do’s. Read on for the best Maui wedding venues, their price ranges, and accommodation numbers—starting with the hidden gem where we got married.

UPCOUNTRY MAUI

Hui No’eau Visual Arts Center

Price: $-$$$
Accommodates: Up to 250

Is it Hawai’i or the Mediterranean? At the Hui No’eau, it’s hard to be sure. You get the best of both worlds: The swaying ti leaves and towering Norfolk Island pines typical of upcountry Maui, plus the smooth stucco archways and tile-lined reflection pool evocative of the Amalfi coast. It’s a combo we love—so much so that we got married there ourselves. (That’s us on the right!)

Notables:

  • The Architecture: Since the Hui used to be a sugar mill in the 1800s, there are all these enchanting ruins lush with thick green overgrowth à la Secret Garden. As you can see, they make for some very memorable photos.

  • The Location: The cooler weather and slower pace of upcountry result in such a relaxing atmosphere. Then the privacy of the property has this lovely effect of making you feel like you’re in your own little world.

  • The Support for the Arts: Maybe the coolest thing about getting married at the Hui is that doing so supports all their incredible arts education initiatives. Living on Maui as we do, we can attest to how important the classes and workshops here are for our wider community.

SOUTH MAUI

Sugar Beach Events

Price: $$-$$$$
Accommodates: Up to 100

Sugar Beach Events was started by a chef, so first things first: The food is next level. Add to that the breathtaking ocean backdrop (with beachfront access!), gorgeous grand ballroom, and luxury suite…this is a venue that checks all your boxes for you.

Notables:

  • The Menu: Hawaiian and Asiatic flavors crossed with Southern comfort food and East Coast classics results in a pretty epic array of dishes.

  • The View: You don’t even have to be outside to drink it in. Sugar Beach Events’ grand ballroom features a long panel of floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors which, aside from revealing that gorgeous view, fill the space with light.

  • The Luxury Suite: High-ceilinged, comfy…and, yes, also flooded with light—this suite is as perfect for getting ready as it is for getting intimate snaps with your wedding-party besties ahead of the vows.

Gather on Maui

Price: $-$$
Accommodates: Up to 120

From the panoramic ocean view to the monkeypod and palm trees to the world’s most epic bougainvillea bushes, Gather on Maui’s outdoor ceremony spaces leave nothing to be desired. And as for reception locales, this venue has a lot to offer—whether you’re looking for a restaurant buyout, pond-side revelry, or a sprawling lawn nestled beside a sloping golf course.

Notables:

  • The View: Hills of green, ocean blue, with two (two!) islands in the distance. It just doesn’t get better. Plus, those vibrant bougainvilleas are next level.

  • The Restaurant: Doors are open, air is flowin’... It’s the tropical dining experience you crave—and the menu is a great mix of continental classics and island faves.

  • The Dressing Rooms: On-site changing areas simplify both getting ready and touching things up, leaving you less to worry about on your big day.

White Orchid Beach House

Price: $-$$$
Accommodates: Up to 40

A homey water-front property a few shores down from Big Beach, this intimate boutique venue gives upscale cottage vibes—and the private beach access is a dreamy perk, to say the least. Plus, after over thirty years hosting stunning weddings, White Orchid Beach House is essentially telepathic at intuiting your needs.

Notables:

  • The Beach: Mesmerizing lava rock formations and the ambient sound of waves just feet away…it’ll all serve to make you fall in love with this slice of paradise.

  • The Home: Inside, it’s tasteful and chic—think mid-century modern meets beachy wicker—yet really quite cozy. And it opens onto a lush lawn bordered by banana leaves and palm trees. You will love.

  • The Planning: White Orchid offers full-service event coordination, which means going with this venue means instant wedding-planning relief. They’ll see to everything so you can just have the best day ever.

Kukahiko Estate

Price: $-$$
Accommodates: Up to 40

This majestic private venue has been in the Kukahiko family for generations, so to host your wedding there is to support a local Hawaiian family—which we can’t emphasize enough! And with an elegant and convenient pavilion on breathtakingly beautiful grounds, Kukahiko Estate is designed to meet your every need on the day you say I do.

Notables:

  • The Lawn: Tucked away beneath a grove of shade trees, this private oasis is an utterly magical place to celebrate your love. Moreover, this side of the island can get toasty, so that shade is all the more divine.

  • The Lava Rock Formations: A micropeninsula of black lava rock jutting out from the pale blue ocean makes for dramatic wedding photos you won’t be able to stop staring at.

  • The Local Factor: As local business owners ourselves, we love to see our Maui community empowered! Also, we may be biased, but we think there’s just a special feeling you get from family-owned.

SOUTH MAUI HOTELS

Hotel Wailea

Price: $-$$$
Accommodates: Up to 250

Floralette freelancer Solana got married at Hotel Wailea (read all about her garden-inspired wedding flowers here!), and we loved the little mango grove locale she and her husband chose to exchange vows. Their spot is called The Treehouse, and it’s one of six gorgeous options you can choose from—for whether you’re planning a micro-wedding or inviting the whole extended family.

Notables:

  • The Serenity: While guests of all ages may attend weddings, Hotel Wailea stays are open only to adults. This makes it a tranquil spot to get ready, honeymoon, return for anniversaries… You name it. (And P.S. it’s the only one of its kind on the island.)

  • The Food: The top-notch culinary team not only uses local ingredients, but even sources fruits on-site from the Hotel Wailea orchard. And about that, the mangos are out of this world.

Grand Wailea

If you’re a giant kid like we are, you’ll love the waterslides, lava cave jacuzzi, underwater bar, and Tarzan rope swing.

  • The Indoor Option: This one of very few non-hotel venues on Maui with an indoor space. Sometimes the weather can be unpredictable, and having the option can be a real day-saver. And complete with hardwood detailing, it’s a gorgeous space in its own right.

  • The Variety: Say your I do’s inside, on the terrace, the stairs, the lawn… The choices at the Maui Pineapple Plantation are near endless.

  • The Bridal Suite: With a large gilded mirror and pumping A/C, you can get ready in comfort and class.

  • The Oceanfront Deck: It accommodates up to 200 people, but still manages to evoke an intimate feel. Plus, it’s right on the water, with panoramic views.

  • The Farm-to-Table Menu: Chef Peter Merriman works directly with local farmers, ranchers, and fishermen to source the freshest ingredients.
