Garden Tropical Wedding Flowers
The floral vibe Alison and Danny envisioned for their Olowalu wedding could be summed up as: Maui rainforest meets rose garden. Here’s how we brought the vision to vibrant, petal-liscious life…
THE CEREMONY
One of Alison and Danny’s main requests was king protea, and we managed to source the last of the season by tapping a local contact who grows this regal flower. So as it turned out, king protea got to reign over Alison and Danny’s wedding arch—along with long strands of orchids, heart-shaped anthurium lilies, and big happy monstera leaves. As for the ranunculus, snapdragons, and all those big pink roses? They were put to work dialing up the romance, and boy did they deliver.
THE PERSONALS
There’s an unofficial rule of thumb when it comes to personals that every wedding florist knows: The bridesmaids’ bouquets are like miniature versions of the bride’s, and the boutonnieres are like micro versions of the bouquets. Sure, there are exceptions—but it’s a rule that, when followed, can’t fail. Here’s how it panned out for Alison and Danny.
The Bridal Bouquet
Alison’s bouquet was like a wedding-day concentrate that she could hold in the palm of her hand. Orchids? Check. Roses? Check. King protea? Front and center.
The Bridesmaids Bouquets
These little love bombs were heavy on the roses and easy on the eyes. Not pictured: the way those little butterfly ranunculus floated on the breeze.
The Boutonnieres
The dainty lepidium green dragon stems throughout the bouquets were at home in the guys’ lapels, and the pink orchids popped against the beige fabric.
The Lei
Because oh yes, this wedding’s personals also included lei. A lei is a symbol of love and respect, and we adore how everyone at this gorgeous wedding was honored with one. Danny wore a special hand-twisted maile-style ti leaf lei while the bridal party and all of Alison and Danny’s beloved guests were wreathed in white orchids.
THE RECEPTION
Flower compotes beneath pretty fringed parasols, a lush bar arrangement refreshing as a cold drink in the sun, and a sweetheart table laden with blushing blooms? It hardly gets better than that. Except try adding in low rolling ocean waves in the background… Yep, even better.
