Tropical Monochrome Wedding Flowers
This one goes out to all our monochrome mavens! It’s no secret we love our color at Floralette, but there’s also just something so classic and elegant about white blooms. Here’s how we went about designing for this gorgeous wedding.
THE CEREMONY
Monochrome doesn’t have to mean monovariety. For this Olowalu wedding, we led with tropics like heart-shaped anthurium and multiple varieties of orchids—with plenty of roses mixed in to fill everything out. But the tropics didn’t end with the flowers; we used monstera leaves, palm fronds, and ferns for our foliage, and we love the contrast of the ivory against those rainforest greens.
THE PERSONALS
For Chris’ lei, we hand-twisted ti leaves in the maile style. If it looks extra lush to you, it’s because he requested a double—and we absolutely love how it came out.
As for Kelsey’s bouquet, it was as if she were carrying a condensed version of their wedding in the palm of her hand. It was complete with cascading orchids and fairylike fern stems.
Finally, as is traditional of bridesmaids bouquets, the posies carried by Kelcey’s besties were like miniature versions of her main event. Which meant they were: tropical, check; elegant, check; ethereal, check.
THE RECEPTION
What with the princess canopies, crystal chandeliers, and glistening ocean views, the flowers were the proverbial cherries on top of this outdoor reception. Kelcey and Chris opted for simple orchid centerpieces to toast over, and they were the sweetest complement to the stunning landscape that is Olowalu.
